What the IP card shows

Location is not GPS — it is a registered GeoIP block. VPNs show the egress country.

Field Meaning Example
IP Visible IPv4 or IPv6 8.8.8.8
ISP / org Registered operator Google LLC
ASN BGP autonomous system AS15169
City GeoIP guess Mountain View (can drift)
Map OSM if coords exist Near a PoP, not a street

What is my IP address?

On load we show your connection’s IP, city, country, ISP and ASN. Leave the box empty for your IP, or type another. Mobile CGNAT shares one IP across many subscribers.

With a VPN you see the egress location. Do not treat IP as identity proof; do not profile others without permission.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the location wrong?

Databases tag blocks to a city or POP. Mobile and CGNAT miss by a wide margin.

Does IPv6 work?

Yes. Dual-stack browsers may pick one family.

Is this personal data?

IP is a technical identifier. Looking up your own is fine; do not profile others without a lawful basis.

Why another country on VPN?

You see the egress node’s GeoIP. Your real location is hidden.

What is corporate NAT?

Many internal users share one public IP. Location is the office or datacenter.

Is rDNS / PTR here?

The geo card has a PTR field. The reverse-DNS tool focuses on PTR.

Where does the data come from?

Public GeoIP and ASN sources. It may lag commercial databases.
